Latinos make up 17% of the overall workforce in the U.S. However, they make up only 8% of those employed in science, technology and engineering fields, creating a phenomenon known as the “Latino STEM representation gap.” Latino students at universities across the U.S., facing barriers such as immigration status and high tuition, often must work twice as hard to accomplish their goals. Julian Berger reports their stories.
