With augmented reality, people can interact with their real-world surroundings by using computer-generated images. As it becomes more popular, it works its way into our daily lives. At UNC-Chapel Hill, Professor Steven King is exploring the potential uses of augmented reality by developing a facial recognition app. His key component, a Microsoft HoloLens.
But don’t think of it as a dark episode of Black Mirror. King says people shouldn’t fear the technological future, but embrace it.
