Rez Hope is saving the tribe

Substance abuse on Indian Reservations is a debilitating issue. Kallup McCoy, a former user, wants to change the narrative for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in western North Carolina. McCoy and his wife, Katelynn, created RezHOPE as a resource to help users in the community find healing and recovery.

Erin Jenkins

Erin is a senior from Bryson City, NC, majoring in broadcast journalism and communication studies. Along with her current role as a Sports Xtra anchor and reporter, Erin has also interned with the Sylva Herald community newspaper. She was chosen to attend the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with the Hussman School and hopes to report at the upcoming games next summer. Erin plans to pursue a career as a reporter for a sports network.
